Interlibrary loans: Making a request from a foreign library

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service whereby a user from one library can borrow books or receive photocopies from another library

Before sending a request

Patrons should search for the book on lbs.leitir.is to see if it is available before they send in a request.

Step 1

We recommend choosing English as a default interface language If you haven't already. First we sign in then we select ILL request.

Step 2

We fill out the form and select Send request.

Step 3

If everything goes well we should see the message "Your request was successfully placed" appear.

Step 4

If we want to see the request we select our name in the top right corner and then we select My requests.

Step 5

We select on Landsbókasafn Íslands – Háskólabókasafn to see the request.

Step 6

There we see that the request has the status ILL. Created borrowing request The patron will then receive a notification via email when the book is available for loan.
