International students: Finding Materials for your Research

Interlibrary loans

Can't find the materials you need at our library? Submit an Interlibrary Loan request and our staff will search libraries around the world to find a copy.

Where is the book?

We use the Dewey Decimal Classification System to organize and provide access to our collections. The system is divided into ten main classes, which together cover the entire world of knowledge.

The National and University Library

The library houses the largest academic collection in Iceland with a broad collection of international scientific works and literature most of which can be borrowed for off-site use by holders of library cards. In addition the library provides access to various electronic journals, databases and reference works.

Article databases

The article databases listed allow you to search for articles through multiple journals. Keep in mind that some are only available on campus so you might want to set up a VPN connection. You can access the University network in a variety of ways on and off campus. Feel free to contact the IT Help Desk if you have any questions.

leitir.is

Leitir.is, the union catalogue for Icelandic libraries, is a good starting point for your research. Items that are available at our library are tagged as "Lbs-Hbs" under "locations and requests".
